london calling

oxford is unbeatable.

a few of my favorite london/oxford images, taken with a minolta x-700, or rolleicord III.

i was in london nearly three months ago – impossible to believe. i’ve since somewhat settled myself back into life in the mountains of pennsylvania, but since i’m not originally from this area it’s been difficult to feel at home since my return. i have the worst case of wanderlust imaginable, and i want to go everywhere, taste everything, throw my back out carrying three cameras around, drink coffee in tiny cafes, and see the sun set in a new city every week, until i find one that i can’t imagine leaving, and i finally come to the point of having to plant some roots down.

bit of a dreamer, this one.

  1. Gorgeous photos, Sarah! I just had to smile when I read these words at the end: “i want to go everywhere, taste everything, throw my back out carrying three cameras around, drink coffee in tiny cafes, and see the sun set in a new city every week, until i find one that i can’t imagine leaving, and i finally come to the point of having to plant some roots down.”

I can SO relate, as I’m also not from where I am right now, and I don’t know yet where I’ll end up. Some days that yields restlessness and I have to force myself to soak in the moments as they unfold. I look forward to planting those roots, but it sure is wonderful to visit these far off places, soak in the beauty and experience the newness of things.

  2. thank you! i know what you mean, about soaking in the moments as they unfold. there are beautiful things happening all around us, no matter where we are…it’s so easy to take them for granted, though, & to only focus on the negative. i look forward to someday planting roots as well. i think part of me is so restless because i know it won’t be here.

  3. I enjoyed seeing England through your eyes. You and those cameras work magic together.

I know only too well that restless feeling. I’ve yet to find ‘my’ place but being on the move makes me happy 🙂

  4. what a collection! that book porn actually made me groan audibly…is that weird? oxford looks like such a magical place too – that college house seriously looks like my imagination’s fairy princess castle. you’ve done so well at capturing the essence of that ‘exploring new territory’ excitement 🙂

    • haha nicole! you crack me up. every time. to be honest i would love it if my images made people groan audibly more often, that would be quite a gift to have!
